Everyday prices behind the estimate

Rent is 58% of the central total (19,262.50 / 33,409.20), so the neighbourhood you pick moves the answer more than anything you buy.
The distinctive check: the visa bar against the city
Mexico has no dedicated nomad visa. The general temporary-resident route asks, at the Las Vegas consulate in its 2026 sheet, for monthly income above USD 4,630 over the last six months (amounts differ by consulate; see the Mexico visa guide and the tracker row). Convert it with the same ECB rates and set it beside the city:
- USD 4,630 / 1.1355 x 20.3222 = MXN 82,864 a month
- 82,864 / 33,409 = 2.5 times the central total
- 82,864 / 26,359 = 3.1 times the outside-centre total
So the income bar is set well above what the city costs a single person on these prices. The bar is a paperwork test, not a price of living: compare it with the lowest-income visas elsewhere. The consulate sheet also asks USD 1,498 more per supported relative.
