The lowest fixed income floors we can source are USD 1,500 a month (Brazil, and Mauritius on a 2023 document), about EUR 2,066 (Italy, EUR 24,790 a year from the decree formula; one May 2026 embassy sheet says about 27,000), USD 2,000 (Sri Lanka, and Malaysia for tech talent) and EUR 2,442 (Spain). Several schemes name no amount at all; those are on the no-minimum-income page. Every row below links to its tracker record and to the official page it rests on.

Schemes whose floor is in local currency
These have a stated rule but no dollar or euro figure on the pages we read, so they are not ranked. Converting needs a dated exchange rate; we show the local figure instead.
- Japan: JPY 10,000,000 a year (tracker row).
- South Africa: ZAR 650,796 a year (tracker row).
- Panama: B/. 36,000 a year from foreign sources; the balboa is pegged to the US dollar (tracker row).
- Colombia: 3 times the monthly minimum wage, which Decree 159/2026 sets at COP 1,750,905 for 2026, so COP 5,252,715 by our arithmetic (tracker row).
- Ecuador: 3 times the basic wage (USD 482 in 2026 per the labour ministry), so USD 1,446 by our arithmetic (tracker row).
Ecuador is a formula tied to a national wage and lands near the bottom of the dollar list. The low end is mostly formulas like this, not fixed sums.
How to read the low end
- A low floor is not an easy visa. Brazil asks USD 1,500 a month but also a health policy valid across the stay (Brazil guide). Sri Lanka adds USD 500 per dependant beyond two.
- Formulas move each January. Spain (200% of the minimum wage), Portugal (4x), Colombia and Ecuador reset with the minimum wage. Use the tracker row for the current figure.
- Savings can replace income. Brazil accepts USD 18,000 in the bank; Croatia accepts EUR 43,470 for a 12-month stay (Croatia guide).
- A cheap floor can hide a costly permit. Compare the government fee on the tracker row before you pick a country by income alone.
- Tax is separate. A visa does not decide where you owe tax; the tax residency basics explain why.

Compiled from the official pages linked in each row, read on 28 and 29 Sept 2026. Greece’s foreign ministry page carries no figure, so its row rests on workfromgreece.gr and a law summary by EY Greece, and says so. Where a host blocked automated readers (Japan) the tracker record notes that the figure comes from an excerpt. Amounts are exactly as stated; only annual figures were divided by 12.
